In March 2017, ICORE NFP partnered with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to develop a six-session training program. The program aims to provide hydrocarbon regulators in Latin America with knowledge that will allow them to effectively oversee the responsible development of hydrocarbon resources in their countries, ensuring alignment with their government policies.
The first of these sessions was held in Calgary, Alberta on June 11 and 12, 2018, where 20 attendees from Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guyana, and Suriname spent two days learning in an interactive environment about modern regulatory practices from experts from the Alberta Energy Regulator.
Topics included principles of regulatory excellence and governance, the foundations of hydrocarbon regulation, and an introduction to risk based regulation.
June’s session was the first of six that will be held semi-annually over the next three years. The next session will be held in Bogota, Colombia on November 12-16, 2018.
